## The SAP process with Jenny
1. Book a free call: answer a few questions and pick a time. Jenny explains your situation and cost.
2. Initial evaluation: about an hour by secure video. Jenny recommends education or treatment.
3. Complete the plan, then a follow-up evaluation with Jenny.
4. Back to work: the employer orders the return-to-duty test, followed by at least 6 unannounced follow-up tests in the first 12 months (can last up to 5 years).

## Selecting Jenny in the FMCSA Clearinghouse (CDL drivers)
1. Talk with Jenny first. FMCSA asks drivers to contact their SAP before selecting them.
2. Log in at https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/ with Login.gov.
3. On the Driver Dashboard, click "designate your substance abuse professional".
4. In the box labeled "Who is your SAP?", type Jenny Kirwin and pick her from the list.
5. Click "Send Request". A "Request Sent" confirmation appears.
6. Text a screenshot of your violation date to (803) 627-2401.

## Common questions
- Do I need a SAP? Yes, after a positive DOT test, an alcohol result of 0.04 or higher, or a refusal. The SAP process must be completed before any safety-sensitive work.
- Can I choose my own SAP? Yes. Once a SAP accepts you in the Clearinghouse, you cannot switch.
- How long does it take? No honest SAP can say before the evaluation. It depends on what is recommended and how quickly it is completed.
- Can I do this without a job? Yes. Only the final return-to-duty test needs an employer to order it.
- Will I get my job back? That is the employer's decision. Finishing the process makes you eligible, not guaranteed.
- What happens to my CDL? It is downgraded while you are "prohibited" and restored after the return-to-duty test is reported.
- Does a medical marijuana card, CBD or Delta-8 count as an explanation? No. DOT does not accept any of them.
- How do I spot a fake SAP? No video evaluation, promised timelines, "no test required", or "DOT-certified" claims. DOT does not certify SAPs.
